Prosecution Discontinues Fatal Explosion Case
The prosecution has discontinued the criminal case against Robert Tota in connection with a 2022 explosion in Southampton that killed two people, citing the “sudden unavailability of a critical witness.”
A DPP spokesperson stated, “On Thursday, October 22, the prosecution made the difficult to decision to discontinue the criminal case against Robert Tota, who had been charged for manslaughter in respect of two deaths following an explosion at the Hilltop area in Southampton in 2022.
“The presentation of the case regrettably no longer became viable after the sudden unavailability of a critical witness. The prosecutors remain in contact with attorneys representing the estate of the deceased persons as they pursue civil liability in respect of the incident.”
