Watson Records Assist For West Virginia State
Bermudian footballer Danni Watson recorded an assist as West Virginia State University lost 2–1 away to Point Park University in Mountain East Conference action on Wednesday [September 30].
Watson, who started and played 67 minutes, set up Maria Alejandra Hernandez Diaz for the opening goal in the 34th minute at F.N.B. Stadium in Pittsburgh.
The Yellow Jackets took their 1–0 lead into half-time before Isabelle Meier equalised for Point Park in the 67th minute, assisted by Rebecca Pihlgren.
Eliya Adjo scored the winning goal with 42 seconds remaining to secure the victory for the hosts.
West Virginia State finished with 14 shots to Point Park’s 10, with both teams recording five attempts on target.
The result left the Yellow Jackets with a 3–3–4 overall record and a 3–2–3 conference record. Point Park improved to 6–3–1 overall and 6–1–1 in conference play.
