Photos & Video: Filipino Community Prayer Vigil
The Association of Filipinos in Bermuda [AFB] held a Community Prayer Vigil in Hamilton this weekend, to remember those who had recently passed away and offer prayers and support to their grieving families.
The event included prayers, musical performances, and heartfelt speeches including a letter from the wife of 42-year-old Ryan Cortez who said that nothing could have prepared her for the pain of watching her little girl lose her father, as well as comments from Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons.

The vigil followed the deaths of two members of Bermuda’s Filipino community last month; 57-year-old Antonieta Pascua died after being struck by a car on Cedar Avenue, while 42-year-old Ryan Cortez also died due to a tragic incident.
In advance of the event the Association said, “Together, let us remember the lives we have lost and lift in prayer their bereaved families and friends, as well as everyone across our island who has been deeply affected by these sudden and heartbreaking losses.”
