Tyler Butterfield: 2nd Place Waikoloa Triathlon
Bermuda’s top triathlete Tyler Butterfield has made an excellent start for his season with a second place finish at the 2010 Waikoloa Triathlon. The race was held yesterday [Mar 28] and consisted of a 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run course at the Waikoloa Beach Resort in Hawaii.

Mr. Butterfield, 27, finished in around 1 hour, 50 minutes, a mere 30 seconds behind eventual winner Chris McCormack of Australia, who set a new record for the course. In third place was the 2006 and 2007 winner Tim Marr.

Mr. McCormack and Mr, Butterfield have known each other since 1996, with the Butterfield family hosting the Australian when he came to Bermuda to race.
Mr Butterfield competed in the 2004 Olympics, and is in full time training for the 2010 London Olympics, which has been facilitated through the generous sponsorships provided by Tokio Re and others.
Tyler Butterfield is the son of Debbie [marathoner] and Jim Butterfield [rower/triathlete] who are both elite athletes in their own right.
