Mr. Phillips scored 4 points in the win over rivals AEL, and reports out of Cyprus say he played a strong defensive game.

After the previous game against AEL two days prior, APOEL’s team bus was set upon by hooligans supporting the AEL team. They attacked the bus, broke the windows and injured both Mr. Phillips and the team’s physiotherapist.

APOEL beat AEK in the quarter finals and Etha in the semi-finals  to go through to the final round. In the championship game APOEL finished the 1st quarter 25-13 and were up 48-39 at halftime. APOEL maintained the lead 68-53 at the end of the 3rd quarter, and finished the game 83-73.

Mr. Phillip’s team APOEL is from Nicosia, Cyprus, and has experienced much success having now won 10 Championships, 11 Cups and 9 Supercups.

6ft 5″ Sullivan Phillips was the lone professional player on Bermuda’s Gold Medal winning team at the 2009 Island Games. Prior to signing with the Cyprus team, he played professionally in the Czech Republic, Hungary and England.
