Man Attacked, Beaten & Dragged

January 3, 2011

On New Year’s Eve a 50 year old man was attacked by two men, one carrying a gun, beaten and then dragged 75 yards according to a Police report.

A Police spokesman said that “Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place a few minutes after 2am on January 1st 2011. It appears that a 50 year old Sandy’s man was returning from a function and he was arriving back at his dwelling on Broome Street in Sandys.”

“As he was exiting his car, two men came out of the bushes and attacked him. The victim states that one of the men brandished what is believed to be a firearm and made demands of money. The man was then hit in the face and then the two men proceeded to drag him 75 yards in front of Sandys Middle School/Sandys 360 where there was a New Year’s function going on.”

“He managed to break free and went inside the building where someone called the ambulance. He was conveyed to KEMH where he received treatment for lacerations and swelling to his lips. The man stated nothing was stolen from him. An active investigation into this incident is on going and police would be interested in speaking with anyone that was in the Sandys 360 area at the time and may have witnessed or may have any information on this incident to contact police on 2950011, or the independent crimstoppers number 800-8477″

I’m praying that one day someone will fight back against one of these thugs. Hopefully causing serious physical damage. One day they may just run into some also holding a firearm and I would hope that someone would teach them a lesson. Better be careful who you rob next. You might just get set up.
