Video: Gombey Warriors In Toronto Carnival
[Updated] The Gombey Warriors travelled to Canada to participate in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, representing Bermudian culture at one of the largest Caribbean festivals in North America.
According to the event website, “The Toronto Caribbean Carnival [TCC] or Toronto Carnival, is a vibrant and dynamic celebration of Caribbean culture, heritage, and artistry. Now in its 59th year, the Carnival is one of the largest cultural festivals in North America, attracting millions of participants and spectators from around the world.
Update: In a statement on their Instagram account, the Gombey Warriors said they “extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who made our Toronto Caribana journey possible.
They said, “A special thank you to the Bermuda Foundation, whose generous support served as the cornerstone of this incredible opportunity. We are also sincerely grateful to our corporate sponsors, One Communications, BELCO, MS Reinsurance ,Island construction and the many individuals and families whose private donations helped bring this vision to life.
“Because of your investment, our troupe proudly represented Bermuda’s rich Gombey tradition across four official Caribana events sharing the rhythm, energy, and heritage of our island with thousands of spectators from around the world.
“Your support was more than a financial contribution—it was an investment in our youth, our culture, and the preservation of a cherished Bermudian tradition. Together, we carried Bermuda with pride on an international stage.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in the Gombey Warriors.”
