Shots Fired: Third Gun Incident In 24hrs

March 26, 2011

005[Updated] Bernews unofficially understands that Police are investigating a report that a gun was fired in the Rambling Lane area of Pembroke a short while ago this afternoon [Mar 26].

There are a number of Police officers presently on scene. Rambling Lane is blocked off by a Police car, and Police are visible on the Parsons Road side. From the Curving Avenue side, Police are visible all through the area.

This is the third time the Police have investigated a firearm incident in the past 24 hours, following the Cedar Avenue incident last night in which no one was hurt, and the shooting last night, in this same general area which left a 16-year-old male in the ICU.

Although we have no official confirmation, we unofficially understand that no one appears to have been injured in this incident. We will update with official information as able.

Update #1: The scene is very calm, with children playing outside as the Police investigate. To give an indication of how acclimatised some people are becoming to firearm incidents, when we happened upon the Police scene this afternoon and asked a bystander what happened, he said “Ah, nothing too much, just a little shooting.”

Update #2: Area residents say the Police appeared to be on the scene still investigating last night’s shooting when the gunshots were heard. Residents say the shots were fired in almost the exact same area of last night’s shooting.

Update #3: Official Police statement:

Around 1:30pm on Saturday, March 26th 2011 police responded to a report of gunshots in the Rambling Lane, Pembroke area. There have been no reported injuries.

At the time of the report, plain-clothed officers from the Forensic Support Unit and the Serious Crime Unit were in the area processing the scene of the earlier firearm incident and heard the shots.

Police remain at the scene and are continuing inquires into both incidents. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Update #4: The entrance to Rambling Lane is open again.

      • Terry says:

Narrow minded people. Thats why they “ramble” on an on an on…………

Wanna blame me for walking through the area but when something happens, takes officials a year to find them in an attic because …”he’s such a great boy. Just turned his life around after they found a gun in his house and forensic evidence and Jesus is his saviour and his friends love him and his Father calls from Atlanta once a year and his uncles are on Day release and his……………………………….

        • joe says:

Hey Terry, that’s funny from a bigot! So you’re assuming that because my name is Joe automatically I am Portuguese? And you call people narrow minded? Wow, intelligence fell very far from your tree. In first place if it wasn’t for the Portuguese in Bermuda what kind of gardening would you guys know? Then you guys come out and pull the race card every time someone says something that they don’t agree on with you. Keep up with the intelligent talk though.

          • Ya'll are just not smart enough says:

LOLOLOLOLOL @ Joe! Sorry to burst ya bubble mate, but Portuguese people are not the reason why gardening is so good in Bda mate. Was the black man that taught them how to garden in the first place. Its just that black people (my people by the way so there is no confusion) back in the day were so very trusting and such a good natured people that we showed them not only gardening, but masonry and a slew of other trades.

            • joe says:

Riiiight, then pick up some tools and go do some gardening. How come Africa is so abundant in gardening? Dude, you need to wake up. Today’s world is made up of billions of people of ALL different races and beliefs. It seems though that only the blacks (as you say your people) that keep piping on the same, damn race issues. It is 2011 and you still looking back. Today’s generations have so much better than all our fore fathers but you just can;’t let that go can you. Other races are blowing by you as you’re standing still asking for hand outs. Got news for you mate go out and make yours, I got mine. Here in the U.S. the same story over and over while Africans come from mainland Africa and take jobs the westerm hemisphere blacks who stand around saying woe is me.

      • Just saying says:

I know nothing about guns so no I didn’t get it.. But I’ve got it now

  4. Rockfish#2 says:

    • Jim Garlic says:

Yup thats right gats…They won’t have a clue what struck umm,,besides they (gunslingers),believe they are the Stars in some ridiculous gangsta movie,,so yeah give um the good ole GAT OTTA HERE…

    • Bigus says:

well no gats are not obsolete the new models are referred to as mini guns and can fire at 3000 RPS. Anyone recall a mac10 was found by the police? when these fools start using that kind off firepower prepare to see the body count climb

      • Rockfish#2 says:

        3000 rps? Are you sure?

        • Rockfish#2 says:

The newer versions of the Gatling (VULCAN) have a firing rate of 3000 -6000 rpm not rps.

  5. The mon says:

  8. joe says:

Hey, I have a question, Ok, there are guns on the island but sooner or later they gotta run out of bullets right? How bout putting a real tight perimeter on the island to stop the gun smugglers. I think that there is some inside info being dished out as maybe someone on the inner circle of law enforcement and not necessarily police but maybe customs? You know, greasing palms with some hefty cash amounts? I mean, Bermuda is relatively small to have this sort of occurrence.

  9. Terry says:

You wanna Glock? Go dahn dee Duck.

You want bullets? No7 shed. Lunch box, under seat, tractor trailor, KFC box…….
