rick-thomas-magic-The Rick Thomas Show put on by the Sandys Rotary made a profit of over $52,000 which was donated to a number of local charities.

Sandys Rotary President J.P. Horst said, “We are pleased to report that the Rick Thomas Show held by Sandys Rotary was a huge success. We had over 6,000 people come to enjoy the show over an 11 day period.”

“As a result of the huge support that we received from the people of Bermuda and our sponsors, we have realized a profit of over $52,000 which we will be sharing with our chosen charities today.”

“The idea of this event started 2 years ago when Past President Edgar Dill saw Rick Thomas perform in Las Vegas. Rick’s show had all the ingredients to qualify as an event that Sandys Rotary could support.”

“It was family friendly, cost effective and delivered a wonderful educational message about the conservation of tigers. With the hard work and commitment of some dedicated Rotarians, our event finally came to fruition.”

“There were several people who were responsible for making this event successful, but in particular I would like to thank the Executive Committee consisting of myself, Rotarian Jack Durner and Past President Edgar Dill along with our event manager Sandra Christensen.”

“They worked tirelessly to see that this event was one of the best that Bermuda has ever seen. The magic that Rick Thomas brought to Bermuda was not just in his act, but in the joy that he brought to the children and adults alike who came out to enjoy his spectacular illusions.”

“This event would not have been success that it was if not for the support of our sponsors. We would like to thank our key sponsors Bermuda Broadcasting, RB&K Advertising, Oil Insurance Group and Arthur Morris Christensen. We also had several other sponsors who contributed to our success – Bermuda Pest Control, Goslings, Jack Durner, Bob Steinhoff and Family, Bermuda Realty and Challenger Banks.”

The charities receiving the donations are:

  • Coalition for the Protection of Children – $10,000
  • Salvation Army –$10,000
  • The Family Center –$10,000
  • Sunshine League – $5,000
  • Reading Clinic – $5,000
