Shooting Victim Remains Stable In ICU

October 27, 2011

As of 9am this morning [Oct.27] the shooting victim from Monday night [Oct.24] remains in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.  The 21-year-old man was riding a bike in Warwick when he was shot twice in what the Police say is a gang-related incident.

At around 8:20pm on Monday, the victim and a friend were riding west on Middle Road, Warwick [just east of the junction of Khyber Pass] when the two suspects travelling on a motorcycle rode up alongside them and shot several times.

The victim was shot twice, in the abdomen and leg, while the pillion passenger received minor non-gunshot related injuries.

The Bermuda Police Service said they are “appealing for witnesses to this incident. The Serious Crime Unit is seeking information from the public on possible suspects – specifically information on any persons, dressed in all dark clothing, seen riding a motorcycle in the area of St. Mary’s Road, Longford Road, Middle Road, Warwick – acting suspiciously or travelling at high speeds around 8pm Monday night.”

“Police are aware that there were several commuters travelling on Middle Road, Warwick around the time of the incident. Investigators are asking that these commuters come forward and make contact with the investigative team. Any bit of information may be valuable to the investigators.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

I can only hope that he knows and has fingered his assailants .

  2. Citizen Banned (Original) says:

This was obviously a case of mistaken identity 1000%. The victim is a nice boy and has never been involved in the gang lifestyle. In fact he rarely took his bike over 35k. He was never in trouble at Cedarbridge not even a detention, etc.

    • NOTWHATIHEAR says:

You don’t know what your talking about, no one would waste their time if it was a mistake.

      • N/A says:

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Several of the shooting have been mistakes. Jason Smith, Freddy Maybury, Colford Ferguson, James Lawes, George Lynch, etc. were definitely not the intended targets. You give these shooters far more credit than they deserve, they are losers with guns, not assassins.

    Humour.

  5. Citizen Banned (Original) says:

Oh haven’t you heard? They are all mistakes. All good boys as I mentioned – YEAH RIGHT!!!

    • Exactly! says:

Exactly! Bermuda has no bad boys – only good boys, angels in fact. We don’t have gangs – just ask the Parole Board. No bad boys here. This place is great – a true utopia…that’s what the CEO of my IB company told me 12 years ago when he begged me to come work here.

My containers set sail next week. Best wishes.

It’s sad how the negative comments just flow. I read these comments everyday and the negativity is ridiculous. People always have something to say… As long as its not your child or relative its all good right? Just leave well enough alone. I don’t get how people have so much to say about someone in a situation like this but then when its their child they want to get mad and defensive when others want to talk!! Get a life!!
