Murder: Roger Lightbourne Jr Charged
This morning [Feb.3] in Magistrates Court 21-year-old Roger Lightbourne Jr was charged with the murder of Jahmiko Leshore.
On 1st March 2011, Mr Leshore, 26, was fatally shot while in the Boundary Crescent, Devonshire area.
Mr Lightbourne was charged with the premeditated murder of Jahmiko Leshore, using a firearm, and handling a firearm.As the matter must be heard in Supreme Court, he was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody. The defendant was dressed in prison clothing and remained silent throughout the proceedings.

This is Bermuda, OF COURSE people know Roger and his family! Why you defenders on here acting like he’s an angel? When you have a horrible reputation along with various other family members, always in the newspaper for the WRONG thing then when people see this it’s not hard to believe. We’ll wait and see what happens during the trial but don’t act like these comments are unwarranted and off base because they aren’t. Also just because you know him doesn’t mean you know if he did it or not either.
We all all upset over the shootings in the streets but what is wrong with Bermudians? We need to start making some noise and asking the real questions-how the hell are these guns getting in here to start with? A bit of it was touched on with the charge that some allegedly got in on the Spirit of Bermuda. Once this case is over, that needs to be investigated and heads need to roll!
In any case, the Collector of Customs should be fired IMMEDIATELY. She is responsible for our borders. If weapons are getting in, then she is clearly not doing her job so she needs to go and someone more capable appointed. Bermuda is self-destructing due to our greed, plain and simple. Governments-past and present-just concentrated on money, money, money while our society crumbled around us. We went around bragging about how wealthy we were-now what is there to brag about? We should have humbled ourselves a long time ago-now the Universe has humbled us.
Back to Customs-all they seemed to concentrate on was the revenue aspect of it but what about keeping our borders safe? While that Customs officer was hassling that lady about the few items she didn’t declare, some thug was passing by right under their nose bringing in gun parts. Cops were out there trying to write as many tickets as they could to make money while crime was getting out of control-now they’re swamped with crime and can’t keep up. All this stuff should have been nipped in the bud but we were out there too busy counting the green and trying to make more. Bermuda seems to be getting what she deserves for her complacency.

Im from NYC and visit Bermuda once a year for the last 27 years for 2 weeks. I stay at an efficiency apartment so I’m around mostly Bermudians and not tourists. Considering how small Bermuda is Im surprised that any murder or crime isnt immediately nipped in the bud. It seems so weird, coming from a big city that any crime could be committed just because everyone knows everyone and how can anyone hide or escape? I wonder about the bad sections of town. These areas are so small and contained why cant these areas just be disbanded? It seems so manageable when looking at it through the eyes of my city where there is realitively little crime compared to the huge area and tremendous population. I ve always been curious about what Bermudians think about this. Thanks
What I find so ironic is that every single one of the convicted killers, or accused killers has a mother / sister / brother / godma / friend saying “Not my son, Not my friend, You don’t know him”. And the victims are revered high and low for the “goodness” within them. While I respect these guys are family to somebody, look through it. The guys that were murdered for the most part were not angels. They were into some BAD shi@$T. Destructive of the communities that rally and revere their memories.
