BDOT Music Video: Bermuda “So Much More”

September 10, 2012

The Bermuda Department of Tourism has released a video to accompany the remake of the old Bermuda classic ‘Bermuda is Another World’ featuring local singers Collie Buddz and Twanee Butterfield.

Update September 2014. Tourism officials, for reasons which remain unclear, have deleted the video. Sorry!

‘Bermuda is Another World’ was originally performed by Hubert Smith, and Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said the Bermuda Department of Tourism was “thrilled” to incorporate the song into their new branding campaign.

Minister Furbert described the song as “classic with a modern twist” and said, “This song is not only beloved here in Bermuda but does a better job than any other in describing the magic and beauty that is our island.”

    is this a joke?

  2. media says:

I like it although there is far too much jumping off the cliffs in it. Once or twice would have been fine, but there are at least 6 or 7 separate shots of it. There is so much more than that to Bermuda. Another point is that they could have had shots of flowers and nature when they sing about honey bees instead of Cup Match being shown.

    • keeping it unreal says:

What I saw was people jumping off the island and a diver shining his light on a sunk ship.

The very next person to get a cliff diving injury, or god forbid fatality, should sue the people behind this video.

  3. Jai says:

I prefer the song written by John Woolridge and friends “Proud to be Bermudian” it is better!

  4. Whoa Charlie says:

Twanee is a wanna be singer and Collie is a wanna be Jamaican. together they created a song that sounds like S*&T. Why mess with the original, they messed it up pretty bad. And I agree, Proud to be Bermudian would have been a much better choice. IMOP. And yes we are all entitled to our opinions.

    • What Next says:

I agree with you Collie Buddz is been a wana be!!!!

      • Barracuda says:

You are jealous because he makes more money than you,and can string a proper sentence together (is been a wana be)smh.

  5. yesterday says:

this is horrible. what is wrong with BDOT.

  6. Razor says:

    Election is coming.

  7. sick an tired says:

I have seen the Video and Heard the Song ,,,my Question to the people who like or even Hate it and the BDOT ????? who is the Targeted Market
for this Production, and did the Video production work with the Audio all the way thru the finish product.

  8. Curious says:

Is Bermuda in the carribean? I am confused, why doe Collie B sound like a Jamaican.

  9. Gaga says:

    They grabbing at straws now!!

  10. tiko says:

Honest review: too much cliff jumping and the editing & shooting is at a high school level. (Eg, the obviosly fake splashing sound of people landing in the water was not needed/corny) The music was okay, would be less of an issue if the video was better. The video lacked a story and flow, just looks like a random stitch of various scenes but with too much varying styles. Some scenes were glamorous and others looked like they were shot with a cell phone.

No rhyme or reason. Vocals are okay, dont knock the artists for being who they are. I question the creative lead who approved the mix matched storyboard and all of the combined elements.

  11. tfa17 says:

this is trash pack it up and try again. collie buds needs to be taken off it(trying so sing smh)

  12. Freedom says:

Really it would have been better to keep the slogan… ‘Another World’ then we wouldn’t be lying would we?

  13. ABM says:

If I was from another country looking at this video I would be so interested and impressed by it.

If I was Bermudian looking at this video I would hate it and question every bit of it as in Bermuda tradition “nothing done by Bermudians is good enough to please the rest of the island.”

  14. I don’t see what everyone’s problem is…its really not THAT bad a song, and it should help us appeal to a younger demographic overseas, if even in a small way. Buddz is always one of the biggest events in bermuda when he plays, and its cause he keeps the crowd going! Twanee is super talented, too!

    Good job, guys!!!

  15. US Observer in Pink Sand says:

Wow BDOT…When you know better, you do better.

  16. WE NEED MORE ENCOURAGEMENT says:

So many times Bermudians say, “all the newspapers and media do, is publicize the negativity that is going on on the island!” Now, our very own local talent is trying to produce a more positive image for Bermuda, and show that even in the climax of negative acticity, there are still people who love and cherish our island. I think that instead of everyone being so harsh and mean about the song/video, maybe you all should come together to create something a little better. I mean everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. But do not come down on others for their artistic creations.

  17. Kno dat says:

I do know what everyone is crying about?? I thought it was pretty good!

  18. Mr Nice Guy says:

This island is never gonna be the same with comments like this. Seems like all people are interested in is pulling each other down. I honestly don’t think “togetherness” is practised here. It is gonna be too late before we all realise that we are all in this “together” oops I used that together word ……..

  19. Rick Rock says:

What’s with the phony Jamaican accent?

  20. Da plumber says:

I love it great work produced well blind to u haters

  21. say it like it is. says:

What really makes me laugh is the fast that half of this stuff is lies. There is no real entertainment in Bermuda, cliff diving video was filmed by someone else, a group of Collega guys, and the BDOT used their clips for this one. Also when was the last time you saw a Policeman in the Birdcage? Just a joke really, plain lies, just like the PLP.

  22. Lisa says:

Where are the black people in this video? I don’t care much for the new version of the song and you could tell there wasn’t much thought in the production of the video, another waste of money by PLP.

  23. Whose ur Customer says:

    Who is Bermudas main customer?
    A. gangsta reggae fans
    B. US College kids in swimsuits
    C. Calypso fans that like remixs
    D. Cliff divers
    E. Middle class white American baby boomers with money

GO FISH WHERE THE FISH ARE u morons!

Apart from that , good video, I will enjoy the fond memories when I watch it because at this rate all that beauty will be gon ein the next ten years.

  24. Miguelito says:

Hey, wha’s de problem? This is a vast improvement if you ask me. Love the production on the song, and shows off some of the incredible beauty of our island. Great job Twanee and Collie! Blind to dem haters.

  25. proud says:

i think it pretty good, i dont agree with all this negativity tho, why the negativity towards what these guys are doin at least their trying , u cant knock somebody for trying , if dont try you have already failed, my advice to all the critics, how bout you try, the more ideas and material we have the better we get, encourage one another we all have a part to play its team work, we need one another, one feeds off the other

  26. Opinion says:

Some Bermudians are so negative about EVERYTHING! I don’t see you trying to boost any tourism..
