Centre On Philanthropy Director To Step Down

September 14, 2012

Brian Madeiros, Chairman of The Centre on Philanthropy, announced that Executive Director Pamela Barit Nolan will step down at the end of this year. Ms  Barit Nolan has been Executive Director since November 2005. The search for her successor will begin shortly.

Mr. Madeiros thanked Ms. Barit Nolan for her service to The Centre, noting: “Pamela joined The Centre at the conclusion of an extensive strategic planning exercise in 2004/2005. Under her direction, The Centre has grown into a thriving organisation that actively supports the nonprofit community in Bermuda.

“When Pamela joined, The Centre had a membership of 68. Now, the membership stands at over 300. Pamela was instrumental in launching Bermuda’s first online volunteer centre, the biennial Third Sector Conference, the Nonprofit Benefit Alliance, and many other programmes designed and developed for Bermuda’s nonprofit sector. The Centre and the community are fortunate to have had the benefit of her energy and dedication over the last seven years.”

Ms. Barit Nolan said: “Helping The Centre become a strong and sustainable support organisation for the nonprofit sector has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have had. With an extremely supportive Board and a superb staff, we have built an organisation that ensures nonprofits receive the help they need to make a positive impact on the community.

“While I have truly enjoyed my role supporting our community’s philanthropists through The Centre, I now wish to pursue opportunities working with women and children in particular. In 2013, I plan to explore further training that will give me the tools to move into that area of service. “

The Centre on Philanthropy was created by a group of committed volunteers in 1991 to encourage an attitude of giving, to promote volunteerism, and to document charitable behaviours and issues in Bermuda. It offers a variety of programmes that provide nonprofits, individuals and companies with the information and tools they need to carry out philanthropic work in Bermuda.
