Road Works To Resume In Southampton

September 13, 2012

This weekend, Bermuda Electric Light Company [BELCO] will begin trenching to relocate cables in connection with Works & Engineering’s road-widening project in the area near the Fairmont Southampton entrance on Middle Road in Southampton.

A spokesperson said: “BELCO has scheduled work for Saturday and Sunday, September 15-16, 7:30 am-6:00 pm, each day. In addition, on Sunday evening, Works & Engineering will be working to close up the trench.

“The work that starts this weekend involves trenching across Middle Road at the entrance to Rebecca Road. Traffic lights will be in place and are scheduled to remain in place until September 29. Every effort will be made to complete this portion of the road-widening project as quickly as possible.

“The work, originally scheduled to commence after Labour Day, was postponed so that traffic lights would not be in place during the opening days of school. It was further postponed due to scheduling changes associated with Tropical Storm Leslie.

“BELCO thanks motorists for their cooperation, as this portion of the road-widening project begins.”
