City Of Hamilton Parking, Traffic Advisory

The City of Hamilton advised that the following road work and closures will be taking place throughout the city:

Outside of the Bermuda Post Office:

Due to a Belco underground equipment malfunction the sidewalk outside of the Bermuda Post Office has been dug up in order to make repairs. It is anticipated the sidewalk will be paved and returned to normal by January 23.

Reid and Court Streets
Work is currently taking place at the Reid and Court Streets intersection as the area is being prepared for the installation of new traffic lights. Disruption to the flow of traffic in the area will be kept to a minimum.

Front Street trenching
Trenching work continues on Front Street outside of Butterfield Bank. This area will be temporarily covered in order to accommodate the KMPG Invitational Mile activities taking place on January 18.

KPMG Invitation Mile street closings
The following streets will be closed during the Front Street activities taking place on Friday January 18.

  • Front Street: Between Par-la-Ville Road and the foot of Spurling’s Hill will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6:00 p.m. and will reopen at 11:00 p.m.
  • Burnaby Street: Between Reid and Front Streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6:00 p.m. and will reopen at 11:00 p.m.

There will be no parking as follows:

  • On Front Street: between Par-la-Ville Road and the foot of Spurling’s Hill between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Patrons of businesses along Front Street East are reminded that all vehicles must be removed by 5:00pm promptly.
  • Burnaby Street: Between Reid and Front Streets from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. No. 1 Car Park: there will be no parking after 2:00 p.m., gates will be locked at 5:00 p.m. and will not reopen until 11:00 p.m.
  • No. 5 Car Park: There will be no parking after 2:00 p.m. Access will be closed at 5:00 p.m. and will not reopen until 11:00 p.m.

The following traffic restrictions will be in place in Hamilton on Sunday, January 20 to accommodate the Bermuda International Marathon and the Half Marathon:

Road closures:

  • Front Street between Bermudiana Road and Court Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • Bermudiana Road between Front Street and Gorham Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • Burnaby Street between Reid and Front Streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

There will be no parking as follows:

  • Front Street between Bermudiana Road and Court Street on both sides of the road, from 4.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.
  • Bermudiana Road between Front Street and Gorham Road on the both sides of the road from 4.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.

Reserved parking area:
Queen Street between Front and Reid Streets will be a reserved parking area for taxis from 9:30 a.m. Access will be via Reid Street.

Traffic Diversions
Motorists entering the city from the direction of Pitt’s Bay Road are advised to divert up Woodbourne Avenue, travel down Gorham Road, left on Bermudiana Road, and right onto Church Street, in order to gain access to city churches and other locations. Likewise, motorists entering the city from East Broadway are advised to divert north on Court Street.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this road closure may cause.
