Photos: RAF Military Aircraft Arrive At Airport

January 22, 2013

This afternoon [Jan 22] motorists travelling along Kindly Field Road or near the Clearwater Beach area, witnessed the arrival of visiting military aircraft at the LF Wade International Airport. Approximately six fighter jet type aircraft can now be seen parked on the north ramp and a large Royal Air Force aircraft is parked nearby.

Military planes can be seen visiting the island periodically throughout the year and often command the attention of traffic passing nearby, with their loud departures commanding the largest audience.

    • Bernews says:

Sorry, we don’t really have a clue, but according some posts below it could be noon today…

  2. Nuffin but de Truth! says:

  3. Traffic says:

    Why do they come here?

  4. MJ says:

    The fighters are Eurofighter Typhoons
The tanker is a Tri Star [BA used them as passenger carriers Bermuda ~ Heathrow in the 80's and 90's]
The support aircraft I am not sure of…and old VC 10 ?

    • Sandgrownan says:

Yup, VC-10..won’t see too many of either for much longer, being replaced by the Airbus MRTT which is based on the A330

  5. Hmm says:

The are scheduled to depart at noon tomorrow according to a relatively good source. My apologies if that is not accurate. I will be down Southside at noon!

  6. Future says:

  7. A bit of sense..... says:

  8. Observant says:

From what I gathered from the RAF chap we spoke to this afternoon, the VC-10 departs tomorrow at noon but will return later in the afternoon.
    @Future…seriously? You’re sad.

Unfortunately, the VC-10 is very close to its expiry date, as it’s going to be retired within the year. With any luck, they’ll preserve a few for museums and not turn them all into beer cans.

  9. its time says:

careful with taking pictures of these craft because most are on top secret missions around the earth, and security can be compromised therefore by another nation which could use that information against them in tactical warfare.

    • Nuffin but de Truth! says:

      Yeh rite!

    • Amsterdamned says:

id bet the farm that they are just coming and going to the joint training with the americans over the desert just like they always do

The L-1011 Left but is supposed to back, but the typhoons look like they are getting ready to leave. That is all but 1. I am waiting for them to leave and thwy are still here. It is about 145 as I post this. With that being said I have no idea when they are leaving. I might miss it whicb is sad because these things sound amazing!!!!

@ future – think before you post as this may be the last time you will see the VC-10 as it is bwing retired. This aircraft is apartment of history and nothing beats that feeling when you hear it or see it up close. So please be respectful of history!!!!

  12. Nuffin but de Truth! says:
