Premier Craig Cannonier attended the islands first Pastors Prayer Breakfast hosted by Bishop Vernon G. Lambe at First Church of God on Friday, April 12th. As a speaker at the event, the Premier referenced 2 Chronicles 7:14 and encouraged the over 70 clergy representatives to ”humble themselves, pray and seek God’s face, so that God would hear from heaven and heal Bermuda — from St. David’s to Somerset … and all points in between. “ He commended the effort of the clergy coming together to demonstrate their collective responsibility.

Additional upcoming events include relating to this include:

  • Solemn Assembly for all churches – Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Anglican Cathedral.
  • Week of Open Doors for all Churches – Monday-Saturday, May 6 – 11, 2013. To awaken the communities across Bermuda.
  • The National Gathering for Prayer – Thursday, May 16, 2013—to Awaken the Nation. All government, businesses, schools, media, and all of Bermuda will be asked to pause during that hour of that day, and in whatever manner they choose, to pray to God on behalf of the nation.

I want to commend Bernews for this article. We do need to bring the church front and center and let Satan know we are not stopping or praying to of Father (whoever we pray to ) for a better Bermuda. I do not see any other reports of this meeting. I knew it was happening because my pastor spoke about it this Sunday. So well done Bernews. Well done Premier Cannonier and the Clergy of Bermuda. This is a great step and I will be in attendance where I can be.

  2. Vote for Me says:

It would be good for all Bermudians to recall that church attendance was part of our culture and formed the bedrock of our learning about right and wrong and how to genuinely love our neighbours. If we can get back to a sense of love, respect and tolerance, we would see a significant decrease in our social ills.

I am not sure if this is the first prayer breakfast for the clergy however, since Rev. Nick Dill hosts several meetings that include ‘mealtime’ conversations.

  3. Stfu says:

Stfu. There is no god. You crazies need to face reality and get over it. Craig shouldn’t be attending any faith-based events in his capacity as Premier of Bernuda. Separate state and religion. More and more people are seeing the light. One day religion will be a thing of the past. #thankheavens

      Heathen

    • Conerned says:

Unfortunately…. @ stfu..there are some young people in Bermuda that will listen to you and that saddens me. If you don’t believe in God then do that on your own but dont tell me to stfu because I believe in my Heavenly Father. Why am I crazy because I serve an awesome God who wants good out of his people? Why am I crazy because I know that when I leave this Earth my spirit will live in Peace. Why am I crazy becuase I believe in the 10 commentamands? Why am I crazy because my sprirt is filled with belief? Remember..my brother do not associate made up religion for spirituality! I know that my heavenly father is real and if you “think” I am crazy because of believing in Him than call me Crazy!! I will continue to pray for peace in the Island of Bermuda. And I will respect your atheist view if you can learn to respect my sprituality and belief in My Lord and Savior! May you have a blessed day and may God continue to protect and forgive you.No need to curse me out because I am praying for you. Totally unacepotable beahaviour. Guess what…He still loves you in spite of the cursing and sinning!

      • Stfu says:

Yes. Fine. But don’t expect our premier and leader to attend such meetings. It’s bad practice on his part. It should never happen. Ever. We have so many people saying we should pray and go to church and do all sorts of things. We need more people saying the opposite. Praying has gotten us where exactly? Religion has killed how many throughout the world?

And yes I do did you crazy for believing in what you believe in. How were women created? I rest my case.

        • Say no says:

          Hey Stfu,

How was man created? Do you honestly believe that you wake up every morning on your own. Or maybe you believe we came from monkies. If that is so, how many years did it take to get from a monkey to a man, and how is it we have not revolved in over 2000 years. I would rather have faith now then not have it and then die and find out I was wrong.

        • I'm Just Sayin says:

          Hey stfu,

You need to take the emotion out of the equation. You are so caught up in your non-belief, that you are proving that ‘God Does Exist,’ with all of the nonsense that is coming out of your mouth.

I think you need to go back to school and get re-educated. There is a saying that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Unfortunately, Bermuda has fallen into this category and now we must fight our way out.

Let me help you out…Bermuda is actually repeating the sins (history) of ancient Israel. As long as the Israelites believed and followed God’s commandments, they prospered. It is in their unbelief that they failed.

By the way, sepeartion of church and state is an American ideology and is one of the reasons why they are in their current predicament. When God is taken out of the equation a country fails…bring God back into the equation and the the country will go back into prosperity. Prosperity is not just financial…one can prosper in their family life, in their social connections, etc.

Just one more thing, be careful of what you speak, for you can bring damnation upon yourself. The woman who demanded prayer be taken out of the schools, lost her life. Bringing closer to home, there was a man who told his students that there was no God, that very same day he had a road traffic accident and today he has to walk with the aid of a cane.

My friend, be careful what you say. I believe in God, I will walk each day professing hos awesome He really is …… I’m just sayin.

  4. Team vs Gang says:

We are pass praying, the only things that we have prayed for over the years are the dead men, families have lost. May they rest in peace.

The Government needs to come down hard on one particular social ill or this summer 2013 will be more or less the same as previous years.

Start with one particular gang, who’s members having been causing nothing but headaches and the rest will fall in line. We are all aware a team is where a boy can prove his courage on his own……

……..BUT A GANG IS WHERE A COWARD GOES TO HIDE!!!!!!!

  5. thief says:

Excellent job Mr. Cannonnier! Whatever our beliefs, the Christians on this Island deserve respect and representation and support from the govennment. And this should be in proportion to the directly Christian influenced population which is significant.

Separately, human rights should not be ignored in the name of God.

  6. Fed Up Bermudian says:

Similarly, human rights shouldn’t be ignored in the name of secularism or atheism. Because I believe or don’t believe in whatever doesn’t make me any more OR any less valuable to society than someone who believes differently from me. I won’t tell you to stfu any more than I expect to be told to stfu. Equal rights for all, regardless of what we believe.
