Premier Hosts Reception For Carifta Athletes

This afternoon [Apr 4] Premier Craig Cannonier held a reception at Camden to congratulate our Carifta athletes on their recent success in the Bahamas.

The team brought home five medals, with Kyrah Scraders claiming a gold and a silver, Sakari Famous winning a silver, Zakiyyah Showers winning a bronze, and Juma Mouchette winning a bronze.

The Carifta track and field athletes are pictured above with Bermuda National Athletics Association President Donna Watson and Head Coach Troy Douglas, Minister without Portfolio Leah Scott, Minister of Community & Cultural Development Wayne Scott, Minister of Public Safety Michael Dunkley and Premier Craig Cannonier.

Bermuda also sent a team to the Carifta Swimming Championships in Jamaica, who claimed a total of seven medals. The swimmers are due to return to the island this evening.
