Masterworks Showcases Art Of Ikebana

May 13, 2013

An exhibit showcasing Ikebana — the Japanese art of flower arranging — officially opens at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art on Tuesday [May 14] to complement the gallery’s current “Drawing With Light: Photography in Bermuda” show.

The floral arrangements are being provided by members of the Bermuda Branch of Sogetsu School of Ikebana.

“Join us for this beautiful exhibit where floristry and photography meet,” said a Masterworks spokesman.

Tuesday’s opening reception will be from 5.30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens gallery. The show runs until May 18.

“Drawing With Light: Photography in Bermuda” is a photographic history of the island since the advent of camera in the 19th century — when the local agricultural industry was largely given over to the cultivation of Easter lilies for the American and Canadian markets  – and runs until September 1.
