This Friday: Howard Lee Memorial Trophy Race
The Commodore and Flag Officers of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club will host the Howard Lee Memorial Trophy race between the RBYC’s Contest III and RHADC’s Elizabeth II on Friday [July 12].
The race will take place starting and finishing off the Flag Pole in Hamilton. The race will be around the Harbour’s islands. The event is due to start at 6pm on Friday and should take about 40 mins with the prize giving to take place at RBYC shortly afterwards..
In May of this year the Corporation of Hamilton donated the Howard Lee Memorial Trophy to the RBYC to commemorate the life of Howard Lee — Bermuda’s first black Olympic sailor — who sailed in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada in the Finn Class.
