  1. Nuffin but da Truth says:

The Pied Pipers of Bermuda sure know how to play their fiddles!
(yes yes,I know it wasnt a violin he played)

    • Hmmmmmmm says:

Oh come on, People whork in these stores, their jobs, and futures depend on these stores. With christmas coming up, this event helps kick off the buzz and excitement in the City.

If there were some evil controller or pied piper, then the country would have increased duty on imports and at the airport to punish those who didn’t buy in Bermuda……..wait wasn’t that wan approach the PLP took ??????????

    • Lebron says:

      Don’t white people like bargains?

  2. somuchless says:

People would do anything to spend money lol

  3. Unbelievable!! says:

Financial assistance workers should go and see if ant of their clients are lined up for cell phones. They should have the same drive to get a job. Meanwhile my deductions are paying their rent and electricity bills….smdh. Apparently struggle ain’t real for some folk….

    • Agree says:

Alot of financial assistance people got there new cellphones smh

  4. Nuffin but da Truth says:

so if these shops can open whenever they feel like it

1)are they breaking any laws in Bermuda.
2)if not,why can we not have 24 hour shopping and Sunday Shopping.

    • Necromonger says:

No they are not breaking any laws because it’s not a Sunday…

Also if you want 24hr shopping then go round to the 24/7 Tiger Mart..!!!

      SMH…

    • Mile High Club says:

Because people need to have a life instead of work, work, work.

  5. Kim says:

It’s so true what they say. NO MATTER WHAT U DO. ppl will complain. For goodness sake people. Enjoy things for what they are. Live a little. You need to shop anyway, so why not save a little money. It only happens once a year. Stop hating and go de hell back sleep.

  6. Family Man says:

Crowds lining up in the dark at 4:00 or 5:00am, City Hall parking lot packed but why do so many Bermudians have trouble getting to work on time every day?

    • Tommy Chong says:

Where is this statement coming from? Do you have statistical data compiled that shows so many Bermudians don’t make time or is this hearsay coming from others with the same prejudice views of Bermudians as you do?

    • Hmmmmmmm says:

That’s a wholly unfair comment and not true. You can’t paint everyone with the same brushstroke. If you try, only a few are actually painted before your allegation brush runs dry.

      • Mazumbo says:

Sounds like an anti-Bermudian, OBA/ubp supporter, and I guess every other nationality around the world makes time. LMAO

        • Hmmmmmmm says:

If they are anti Bermudian they can’t be OBA supporter. Two things are mutually exclusive.

        • Mike Hind says:

How is this in any way political?

Oh, wait. It isn’t. This is just another opportunity for you to spread your false, hateful smear.

          Sad.

    • Hotta says:

Family man your an idiot making false statements about Bermudians off of one person telling you that they’re always late to work.. Lay down and look after your family!

    • Next says:

Why do you generalize thousands of people?

  7. Y-Gurl says:

Great effort by the Bermuda retailers, and thanks to the Bernews team for doing the night shift to report it.

  8. LeRocher says:

I guess Bermudians keep finding money and no work …cheeezzzz

  9. Rock Watcher says:

Your absolutely right ‘family man!!’ Smack on de head with dat comment!
Can’t get to work – talk all day on de phone – take long lunch breaks – packed up ready to go at 4.45pm (ain’t even WE!!) and when you say something all they do is suck their teeth!!
Well when all de business is gone you’ll all to do dat all you want!!

    • Tommy Chong says:

You & family man are only spouting prejudice fallacies that you can’t even back up. How do you know all standing in line are Bermudian? Did you walk along the line checking everyones passport? I bet you think they’re all Bermudian in the line because of the colour of their skin & that the ones who are of other races in the line are the only unfortunate ones who need the discount.

There may be some Bermudians who have poor work ethics but not as many as you & family man are trying to imply. I’ve witnessed some foreign workers who also have the same bad habits as you peg on Bermudians the only difference is Bermudians of the same employer get scrutinised while the same actions from a foreign worker gets overlooked.

Also what’s with the de! de! de! & the dat! Are you trying to stereotype or are you a wannabe Bermudian who puts on an accent around Bermudians because you’re so desperate to fit in?

      • Mazumbo says:

I guess they have never been overseas before, they need to travel!

      • Tommy Chong says:

If you share the same prejudice view as Rock Watcher & Family Man please click the dislike button in my above comment to support the rest of the Anti-Bermudians. Once you click the dislike button feel free to log on to a travel site & book your ticket on the next plane out of here so you can get as far, far away from us Bermudians as possible.

    • Hotta says:

Rock watcher keep watching dem Rocks bie!! How many you had today ?!? I’m got choppers give me a link!

  10. swing voter says:

well, um just laughin….but them rich bies are laughin all de way to de bank….no shortage of stupidity! wait, do I see my tenant in line ova der? hey bie, wers my rent for de las 5 months?

  11. Smh says:

It amazes me how people are commenting negatively on the people out there standing in lines. Like WHO CARES? Mind your own damn business. I know I was tucked in cuddling under my covers in the early hours not giving one flip about who was out there.

But who are you to judge these people? Xmas is right around the corner. Why not use this opportunity to save a few $ even if it is 10%, every penny counts, it’s hard times.

And why are people on here talking about making time to work? Seriously? People wake up at 5 and 6 taking morning walks/runs, I don’t see how catching a one-off sale is an issue.

People chose to spend their money differently! These people chose to buy things on sale, others may choose to buy a plane ticket and go away and buy it then pay duty.

And whoever bought up the financial assistance comment, who’s to say the people on financial assistance don’t need a new phone? Maybe they have been waiting a few months just to see the prices go down? They were smart to catch it on sale rather than paying $200 or more at regular price.

I know my mama went down to stand outside Gibbons to get a mirror she has been wanting for months but found it too pricey. Nothing wrong with catching a little bargain people!

Some Bermudians just need to GET A LIFE and stop watching what others do.

    • LOL(original tm and all that) says:

      Preach it!

    • Tommy Chong says:

I agree with everything you typed in this comment except the last sentence. I find it hard to believe that those who make so many anti Bermudian comments are Bermudians or at least born Bermudians. It would be extremely daft for a Bermudian to think that they are so uniquely different from the rest of the 60 plus thousand that they can generalise & not include themselves.

I’m willing to wager that many anti Bermudian comments come from expats or foreigners granted status by marriage or other means. This is just as daft because when you examine it this type of mindset would parallel to a neo-nazi moving to Israel. If someone has such an issue with Bermudians there are plenty of other places you can go where you’d never have to deal with one.

    • Hotta says:

Thank You SMH !! Well Said… Some People are just Losers with nothing else to do but criticize everything that has nothing to do with them !

  12. tricks are for kids.... says:

Thank you for that Smh…..too many people in other peoples business……

    • Stop makin it my business!! says:

When my taxes have to pay for the person who is standing in lines to purchase a cell phone it becomes my blasted business!! If they were payin their own bills I wouldn’t care!! You must be one who gets ya rent paid too…..

      • Mike Hind says:

How are your taxes paying for that person?
How do you know they’re not paying their own bills?

        • Tricks Are For Kids says:

Mike I guess they must have interviewed EVERYONE standing in line :-) ………SMH…….either that or people that receive assistance have a certain “LOOK” ……….go figure

      • Tricks Are For Kids says:

        ROTFLOL—–homeowner……..business owner…..educated professional since ……your wondering…….

You’re just ASSuming that those in line are receiving assistance and making a generalization WITHOUT facts…….you don’t know the story of those standing in line… ..just the same way in which you stated that I must be getting my rent paid too…..LOL you are dead wrong!!!!!!!
As long as YOUR bills are paid you shouldn’t be concerning yourself with anyone else……IJS

  13. Inquiry says:

I would not buy a Digicel product!

  14. fedup Nana says:

Note for all the hatter bloggers..

    Note for those hatter bloggers..

If you don’t eat, sleep with the shoppers, (don’t judge). It’s CHRISTMAS. Shut down your computer… do something meaningful e.g. fill Xmas hampers…help a charity deliver Xmas dinner to the sick, shut-in and seniors etc.

It really amazes me that you all go directly for the juggler of the financial recipient… I do not hear/see any of you going for your Gov’t.’s juggler, regarding Bda’s massive jobs loses..

    hello-anybody-out-there.
