PLP Welcome Lacey, Samuelsson Appointments

February 13, 2014

Shadow Minister Wayne Furbert said that the Progressive Labour Party welcomes the appointment of Karla Lacey at the Bermuda Tourism Authority, as well as the news that celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson will create the new signature restaurant at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

Mr Furbert said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party today welcomes the appointment of Karla Lacey to the post of Chief Operating Officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

“With her experience and demonstrated commitment to quality world class service during her tenure at the Bermuda Hospitality Institute, she is a welcome addition to the tourism team. We wish Ms. Lacey much success in her new role.

Mr Furbert also said the Party “welcomes the announcement that Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson will be creating the new signature restaurant at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. This is good news for Fairmont and good news for Bermuda.

“This will enhance an already fine hotel, will attract new positive interest in Bermuda and will add yet another amenity to our overall tourism product. The Green Family is to be commended for taking this bold step and we wish them and Fairmont, much success in this new venture.”

Can someone please tell flip flop that they lost the election and nobody really cares who they welcome because their thoughts and actions only put us in a disastrous financial position !!!!

The opposition finally provides a completely positive statement with no spin. Its a basic congratulatory statement and you still have to complain? Whats wrong with you?

        Thats what trolls do.

Kangoocar says “nobody really cares who they welcome” But he’s the first to click on and comment on it.

Geeesh the ex Minister of Tourism makes it sound like he had somthing to do with the appointments. – but
I’m sure that quite a few people could be brainwashed in believing so.

  4. Raymond Ray says:

Thanks Wayne, for once not ending a statement with criticism…

  5. Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

One thing that it does transparently show, that OBA supporters are instrumental in the negative comments on these blogs…

Accept a compliment and say thanks PLP – because they are clearly demonstrating that they can temper their rhetoric from continuous political criticism to complimentary upbeat comments – when they are deserved.

    As Raymond Ray has.

Valirie, are you serious?? There is nothing genuine about what they say!!! If you were actually here, you would have heard the disgusting and outright lies by the opposition leader today accusing the Premier and 2 other cabinet Ministers of saying they were about to take a huge payday for a casino license!!! The plp are so desperate they will say anything to get re elected , sad but true!! I will call a spade a spade any day, but I will never fall for the outright lies of the plp!!

@Kangooar, I read the article and I am commenting on the article.

I have met Cannonier in London and I am NOT inspired.

What Marc Bean says about Cannonier is not a part of this article.

I hold Marc Bean responsible and accountable for his lack of vigilance, lack of honour and respect on the grave site debacle at Tucker’s Point.

When you call yourselves a BLACK political party, yet you fail to protect and honour Blacks in Bermuda who set the precedence of self-sufficiency in managing their community in the face of slavery and institutional racism, then, in my humble opinion, your Blackness extends only to the exclusive hierarchy of your political party.

This one very important issue of protection, honour and respect and all of you were too self-indulgent being a Black party (whatever that means because whose back were you protecting here)?

You want to make amends, introduce a Bill to buy back that land and turn it into a national park honouring our direct descendants from Africa who lived, produced and thrived in their self-sufficient community.

Forget the golf course, it’s on secrete ground, go and play somewhere else.
