Premier Craig Cannonier’s Easter Message

April 20, 2014

Good day everyone and Happy Resurrection Day!

As you know, today Christians around the world reflect and celebrate the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made some 2000 years ago, when He made atonement for our sins on the cross at Calvary and rose again triumphantly on Easter morning.

He did not forget us – We have every reason to rejoice in God’s forgiveness and reconciliation!

So today, as many partake in our traditional Easter activities, like attending church, having a meal with our family and friends, eating up the rest of the fish cakes and hot cross buns I encourage you to reflect on what makes us unique as Bermudians: It’s our generosity, our friendliness, our hospitality and our willingness to love our neighbour as we love ourselves.

I also encourage you to embrace life, to forgive and reconcile with the people you need to and celebrate life on this special day. From my family to yours-Happy Easter!

- Craig Cannonier

We would also like wish you and your family the very best Mr. Premier. We certainly understand the difficult job you have inherited. May this be a successful year for you and your team and even more so to the people of our island home who are counting on success for the good of us all.

All I know Craig is that the entire island was closed today. We pretend to be a religious island, but seriously how many of us went to church? Hardly any expats, maybe 25%?even Arnold’s was closed FFS. If we are such a holy island, why don’t we celebrate Easter Monday? As a non believer, I can tell you today was as dull as hell.

    • M & M says:

@Baltic Fury just in case you have been asleep for your entire life, every year Bermuda shuts down on Easter Sunday, not just because Mr. Cannonier wrote a wonderful letter to us. Even those who did not attend Church I’m sure they found time to spend with family. Ever thought of changing your ways? You may not be as bored… just asking.
