Steven Bremar Wins Cricket Sportsman Award

June 6, 2014

Today the Bermuda Cricket Board announced the winner of the weekly Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award for week two is Steven Bremar Jnr of Devonshire Recreation Club.

The BCB said, “On Sunday, June 1, 2014, during the match between Western Stars Sports Club vs Devonshire Recreation Club, while batting, Western Stars Captain, Nyon Steede, played at a ball and missed.

“The ball hit the wicketkeeper’s gloves and landed close to the stumps but the stumps were not in danger of being hit. Steede knocked the ball away with his bat and several Devonshire Recreation players appealed for an “Out” by Obstruction.

“Mr. Bremar in his capacity as Captain immediately withdrew the appeal and made the comment “We don’t play cricket like that”, much to the chagrin of his team.”
