BIFFlix Film Series To Screen ‘Force Majeure’
Bermuda International Film Festival [BIFF] has revealed that it will begin its BIFFlix film series this year with Force Majeure, a film nominated for a Golden Globe at last night’s [Jan 11] award ceremony, and which won the ‘Un Certain Regard’ gong at Cannes in 2014.
Force Majeure will be screened on Sunday, January 25 at 5.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium in the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] at 40 Crow Lane in Pembroke.
A spokesperson said, “Force Majeure is an ice-cold Swedish drama about a family torn apart by cowardice. This wickedly funny and precisely observed psychodrama tells the story of a model family—handsome businessman Tomas, his willowy wife Ebba and their two blond children—on a skiing holiday in the French Alps.”
Official Force Majeure trailer:
“The sun is shining and the slopes are spectacular but, during a lunch at a mountainside restaurant, an avalanche suddenly bears down.
“With people fleeing in all directions and his wife and children in a state of panic, Tomas makes a decision that will shake his marriage to its core and leave him struggling to reclaim his role as family patriarch.
“Force Majeure is the third feature of director Ruben Östland, and each has attracted widespread critical acclaim.”
Tickets are available in advance at www.ptix.bm or can be purchased at the door on the day of the screening from 4.30pm with cash, cheque, or credit card. Tickets are priced at $15. The film is in Swedish, English, French and Norwegian, with English subtitles, runs 118 minutes, and is rated R.
