The West End Ministerial Alliance will hold a Sunset Prayer Vigil at Fort Scaur in Sandys on Saturday [October 10] at 6.00pm, inviting the community to gather in remembrance of those aboard the air ambulance that was travelling from Bermuda to Boston.

The flyer describes the event as “A community gathering for prayer and remembrance” and says it will be held “In remembrance of the lives lost in the recent air ambulance tragedy.”

“Join us as we gather in prayer and support for their families, loved ones and our community,” the flyer states. All are welcome to attend.

The vigil follows the air ambulance tragedy on October 3, when contact was lost with a Latitude Air Ambulance aircraft carrying six people from Bermuda to Boston. Search crews subsequently located debris from the aircraft off Nantucket, Massachusetts, and the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search on October 4, and all of the six people on board are presumed to have died

The two Bermudians aboard were identified by police as 66-year-old Marilyn Lavonne Bean and her 41-year-old son, Sergio Wayne Lottimore and the four Canadian crew members were Captain Philip Childerhose, First Officer Thomas Farquhar, Flight Nurse Sarah Paton and Respiratory Therapist Jolene Weir.
