January 18, 2015

The island’s young sailors have been given a boost courtesy of a $50,000 donation from Bermuda CableVision, which will be donated over the course of the next two years to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Sailing Academy for the purchase of four SL16 Catamarans to be used by young sailors.

Speaking at the company’s annual ‘Salute to Service’ banquet held last night [Jan 17] at the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda CableVision CEO Terry Roberson said, “As you know, Bermuda CableVision cares about the community and makes an effort to invest in our people.

“The Island’s youth are the future of the Island and tonight, Bermuda CableVision has decided to make a ten-year commitment to this aspiring young group of people.

“As you are all aware, Bermuda has been named as the host of the America’s Cup 2017. Bermuda CableVision is very proud to announce that we are donating $50,000 over the course of the next two years to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Sailing Academy for the purchase of four SL16 Catamarans to be used by young sailors across the Island.

“These super-fast boats will display CableVision red and blue for the next ten years, through an agreement with the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

“We hope this donation will allow the inspiration of the America’s Cup to pass to our youth who may, after training and dedication, wish to train to become world-class yachtsmen and women,” added Mr Roberson. “This is CableVision’s investment in our youth.”
