Photos: Bermuda YAO Baseball League Action

Three pitchers stumped the Orioles as they teamed up to throw a no-hitter for the Cubs in an 8-1 victory in a four-inning rain-shortened game at Kindley Field in recent YAO Baseball League action.

Jannis Roberts, Peter Komposch and Sam Resnik teamed up to stifle the Orioles, striking out seven while walking six. Roberts had an impressive outing against the Orioles’ lineup, he held the Orioles hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four.

An RBI single by Resnik, driving in Kaelin Paynter in the first helped the Cubs get on the board early. In the third an RBI single by Paynter and another by Resnik in the third helped the Cubs put some distance with the Orioles.

The Cubs were helped with key hits by Peter Komposch, James Correia and Carline Driscol. Jaden Malpas, playing strong behind the plate, also had an RBI single.

In the YAO Babe Ruth League, not even a strong hitting and pitching performance by Jack Martin could carry the Marlins past the Orioles in a rain shorten game at the Babe Ruth Senior Field , as the Marlins suffered a 5-2 defeat.

Martin reach based twice in the game, hit a double in the fourth and made a run saving double play in the first. Stephon Paynter got it done on the rubber on the way to a win, allowing two runs over four innings.

Paynter struck out seven, walked five, and gave up only one hit. Billy Montgomery suffered the loss for the Marlins, but still had a strong performance going 3 1/3 innings, walking two and struck out five.

The Orioles stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run. The Orioles added three runs in the top of the fourth when Dylan Summerville’s double got things going, scoring Daniel Exell. Two runs in the bottom of the fourth helped the Marlins close their deficit to 5-2.

A wild pitch and a walk by Leo Harris sparked the Marlins rally, however it was stopped by Paynter, who got Giovanni DeBraga to strike out.
