BBC News: Fun For Seniors At Windreach

Seniors living in residential care homes took part in a Boccia and Jokey Ball tournament at the Windreach recreational facility this afternoon.
The event, sponsored by Zurich International, was organized jointly by Elizabeth Stewart, President of Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and Paige Belvin, Senior and Volunteer Co-ordinator at Windreach.
About 100 seniors, including community groups from Lorraine and Packwood, House of Esther, Yellow Roses, Living Well, and Sunnyvale, engaged in friendly competition after lunch at Windreach. One of the indoor games involved tossing small, coloured balls in a manner similar to bowls.
Ms Stewart said today’s event demonstrates that “people are still capable of so many things and we shouldn’t write them off because they receive a diagnosis [of Alzheimer's or dementia]“.
