Photos: Open Water Swimming Championships

The Bermuda National Open Water Championships took place this morning [Sept 25] with participants taking to the waters at Clearwater Beach and Turtle Bay.

Three races were held of different lengths including the 5K, 1500M and the 400M open water swims. Erik Soria won the 5K open water swim with a time of 1:08:10. Ilya Cherapau placed second in a time of 1:11:24, while Eileen Mullowney placed third overall and first female in a time of 1:14:34.

Jesse Washington defended his title in the 1500M open water swim placing first with a time of 20:19. Former world record holder in the 50-meter backstroke and the 100-meter backstroke, Peter Marshall placed second with a time of 21:22, while Rebecca Heyliger placed third overall and first female in a time of 21:52.

Ten year old Daniel Kunst won the 400M open water swim placing first with a time of 6:26. Harlan Watson-Brown came second in a time of 6:37, while Flynn Watson-Brown took third place in a time of 6:51. Chelsea Lomas was the first female across the line with a time of 6:52 and placed fourth overall.
