Traffic Diverting In Paget Due To Utility Pole Fire
[Updated] Police have advised this afternoon [Oct 20] that there are traffic diversions currently in place on Middle Road in Paget due to a utility pole fire.
A Police spokesperson said, “Traffic diversions are currently in place on Middle Road in Paget due to a downed utility pole at the junction with Ord Road [Ess Hill].
“No injuries have been reported. However, motorists intending to travel to the east or west end of the Island via Middle Road, Paget are advised to take alternate routes until further notice.”
Update 3.40pm: A Police spokesperson said, “BELCO is on scene dealing with the reported utility pole fire/downed pole. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at the junction of Middle Road and Chapel Road with the exception of buses and large vehicles. Westbound traffic along Middle Road can now proceed as normal.”
Update 4.51pm: The police said, “Westbound motorists traveling out of the City of Hamilton are encouraged to use Middle Road or South Road and avoid Harbour Road, to lessen congestion during the afternoon rush hour as eastbound traffic continues to be diverted from Middle Road on to Harbour Road via Chapel Road.”
