Artist Creates Bermuda-Themed Ornaments

November 12, 2016

Freelance artist Kathleen Emmerson recently designed and created hand painted ornaments for Walt Disney World, with each of the ornaments translating the artist’s “love of Bermuda and ways to celebrate this lovely island.”

The artist’s experience includes designing sets and creating themed events to hand painting award game balls for the NFL and universities.

Her first designs were traditionally Bermudian, including the buttery, sea turtles, and fish, with more whimsical designs following, including Santa flying over the island, flip flops, and pineapples. She has also created a charm bracelet using her first design, the Bermuda buttery.

Ms. Emmerson said, “I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the project, and wanted to translate that to my love of Bermuda and ways to celebrate this lovely island.”

“In 2015, I was honoured to celebrate Graham Foster’s Lennon Double Fantasy design on an ornament; what a privilege.

“I’m excited about this year’s additions, my Moongate, and the love is love design. Tony Brannon has used this graphic for his Marriage Equality campaign and I wanted to do my part in keeping this important issue on the forefront.”

“I’ve also put together a ‘Create Your Own Bermuda Ornament’ package, complete with hand designed and painted ornament, paints and brushes. They are moving quickly.”

Ms. Emmerson’s pop up shop opens in the Washington Mall from December 3 through December 24.
