Fifty One Students Graduate From Saltus
Students from Saltus Grammar School were told to go out into the world and “have fun and enjoy yourselves” at a ceremony at the Anglican Cathedral to mark their graduation.
On the 30th anniversary of her graduation from Saltus, guest speaker Vanessa Schrum, a partner and Group Head of the Private Client and Trusts department at Appleby in Bermuda, gave the students tips to help guide them in the future.
“Do not stagnate,” she told the students. “Be yourself and do not be afraid to change direction – you are allowed to change your mind. Do not burn bridges – you do not know who you are going to work for or who will work for you. Be kind and considerate.
“Have fun, this is my favourite. Live in the present and enjoy the day. Go out and find yourselves and make us all proud!”
Fifty-one students graduated from Saltus and are going on to study at universities such as Exeter, Leeds and Edinburgh Universities in the UK, as well as Queen’s University in Ontario and the University of West Virginia, in the USA.
Head of School Deryn Lavell said: “Graduation is a special day, it is a milestone and a time when we bid farewell. I have one regret that I did not have the opportunity to get to know you all sooner. You are a stellar bunch.”
