Bermuda Bowl Well In Doubles In Hong Kong
Lamar Richardson and Damien Matthews paired up to produce a special round of doubles bowling, placing a creditable 18th as Bermuda continued their quest for glory at the World Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong.
The pair were on form from the outset and would record combined scores of 400-plus in games three and six on their way to a total pin-fall of 2276, with Matthews leading the way with 1167 and Richardson backing him up with a solid 1109.
Nevertheless, the duo were no match for the highly rated pair from Malaysia, including Adrian Ang [1345] and Tun Al-Hakim [1251], who were first and qualified for the semi-final round with an overall total of 2596.
Among the averages the Bermuda 2 pair likewise placed 18th with a 189.67 average total, with Mathews at 194.50 and Richardson almost ten pins less at 184.83.
Again it was Malaysia 2 with Ang and Al-Hakim at the head of the pack with a spectacular overall average of 216.33.
Today has Bermuda 3 comprising leading local keglers Rickai Binns and David Maycock competing in the Doubles Squad 4 and trying to qualify for the semis.
