Hawley & Smith Win Bronze Medals In Mexico

Bermuda’s Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith both made excellent showings to capture Under 23 Bronze Medals at the Pan American Championships while competing in the 2019 Monterrey CAMTRI Triathlon American Championships in Mexico.


Hawley was clocked across the line in a time of 2:02.55 to finish the Elite Women’s Division in 15th place. She came out of the water in a time of 20.34, clocked 1:01.22 on the bike course, before closing out with a time of 39.52 on the run course.

Smith accomplished his goal of a top 10 finish when he finished the Elite Men’s race in 10th place crossing the line in a time of 1:46.14. He completed the swim in a time of 18.20, clocked 54.17 on the bike course, before closing out with a time of 32.43 on the run course.

Both athletes also placed 3rd in their respective U23 categories, earning a place on the podium as they collected their bronze medals.
