Leverock’s Team To Fly Bermuda Flag In Ireland

June 14, 2019

Sligo Rovers — a football team that play in the Premier Division of Ireland – will fly the Bermuda flag at their showgrounds tonight, with the Irish team giving a nod to the island’s Gold Cup football team which is captained by their own player, Dante Leverock.

Sligo Rovers tweeted, saying: “As well as our own flags, tonight we also fly the national flag of Bermuda at The Showgrounds in sending our best to @LeverockD92 as he gets set to captain his nation in a historic first ever @GoldCup match on Sunday. Good luck Dante doing us proud and to Bermuda.”

“What a club. Proud to be a part of this team,” Mr Leverock tweeted in response to the team. “Thank you for your support.”

Mr Leverock previously told Bernews that making the Gold Cup for the first time in history is “monumental for us, it’s also monumental for the country and the next generation. It’s important that we do well, represent ourselves well” adding that “we’re a small nation and we’re punching above our weight.”

In addition to Mr Leverock, Bermuda’s team includes Nahki Wells, Jonte Smith, Reggie Lambe, Dale Eve, Oliver Jalen Harvey, Calon Minors, Roger Lee, Kacy Milan Butterfield, Jaylon Bather, Lejaun Simmons, Donte Brangman, Chikosi Basden, Zeiko Lewis, Willie Clemons, Jahquil Hill, Osagi Bascome, Cecoy Robinson, Justin Donawa, Wendell Tre Ming, Liam Evans, Marco Warren, and Quinaceo Hunt.
