Two Vehicle Collision On Middle Road, Warwick

[Updated] Two people were injured following a two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick around 2:45am today.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 2:45am Wednesday, July 31st police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick in the vicinity of Sleepy Hollow Lane involving a car and a motorcycle.

“It appears that the motorcyclist was traveling west on Middle Road and the car was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

“The male rider, believed to be in his late teens, was apparently in and out of consciousness at the scene and rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“His injuries are thought to be serious and an update on his medical condition is anticipated in due course.

“The male driver of the car, said to be in his late 60s, was also taken to hospital for treatment of less serious injuries.

“It is also understood that two passengers in the car at the time were not hurt.

“Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately three hours while the scene was processed.

“Any witnesses are encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.”

Update 12.56pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 2:45am Wednesday, July 31st police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick in the vicinity of Sleepy Hollow Lane involving a car and a motorcycle.

“It appears that the motorcyclist was traveling west on Middle Road and the car was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

“The injured rider, believed to be an 18-year-old St. George’s man, was apparently in and out of consciousness at the scene and rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check, he was listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

“The driver of the car, said to be a 68-year-old Paget man, was also taken to hospital for treatment of less serious injuries, treated and later discharged.

“Two passengers in the car at the time, believed to be a 27-year-old Warwick man and a 19-year-old Devonshire man, were not hurt.

“Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately three hours while the scene was processed.

“Any witnesses are encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.”
