BFA Legends Scholarship Awards Presentations
Five student-athletes received a scholarship from the Bermuda Football Association [BFA] Legends programme, with the presentation held at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence
Richard Calderon Scholarship
A spokesperson said, “Richard Calderon was a stalwart at the North Village Community Club where he would go on to win every major trophy in Bermuda a few times, mostly notably winning the Triple Crown in 1978 as well as being their MVP. Richard represented Bermuda at the senior national team level many times. He formed the Bermuda Football Foundation, is a former President of the Bermuda Football Association and is a founding member of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association.

Robert Calderon Scholarship
“Robert Calderon was a member of the North Village Triple Crown team. Robert won the league title on three occasions, FA cup three times, the Dudley Eve, Martonmere Cup and Friendship Trophy on multiple occasions. He captained and coached the Senior Men’s National Team and won a bronze medal at the CAC Games in Medellin, Colombia. Robert is a founding member of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association. He is also a founding member of the Bermuda Football Foundation. He is a former Vice-President of the Bermuda Football Association and served as Chairman of the BFA’s Technical Committee.

Lesley Cherry White Scholarship
“Lesley Cherry White had an outstanding collegiate career where she won the Conference Championships each year, was an Atlantic Conference MVP and was selected to the All-Conference Team. She was also Captain and MVP of her college Team. She was an outstanding player with the former Telecom Women’s team and BAA women’s teams. She was instrumental in bringing University and Club teams to Bermuda in the early 90’s, to play our local women’s club and all-star teams. Lesley previously served on the BFA’s Competitions Committee for several years.

Randy Bean Scholarship
“Randolph [Randy] Bean was a skillful, visionary midfielder whose love and passion for the game allowed him to not only play with some of Bermuda’s greats but also afforded him the opportunity to give back to his community through coaching, managing and hosting community centered football events. He started his career at Southampton Rangers as a junior player before joining North Village Community Club where he won numerous trophies including the Triple Crown. He was part of the National Team that qualified for the Pam Am Games in 1979 beating Canada, the USA and drawing with Mexico.

Alan Peacock Scholarship
“Alan Peacock will forever be fondly remembered as player and leader of Hotels International who won them numerous titles. He was a good captain and, for many players and even greater coach. Hotels won the League, FA Cup and the Friendship Trophy as well as the Martonmere Cup. He was responsible for bringing Aston Villa to Bermuda and he supported the BFA in his capacity as an Executive Director to drive international football activity for the National Team in the 1980’s and 90’s.
