BPS Confirm Death Of 49-Year-Old Jamie Kopp

The police have now confirmed the death of 49-year-old American visitor Mrs. Jamie Kopp, who died following a collision on Thursday.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 49-year-old American visitor Mrs. Jamie Kopp and extends sincere condolences to her husband, family and friends.

“It appears that around 1:45pm Thursday, September 5th Mrs. Kopp and her husband were riding separate rental scooters west along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road – with Mrs. Kopp traveling behind her husband – when she was involved in a collision with a water truck being driven in the opposite direction.

“Mrs. Kopp was seriously injured and despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, which continued as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, her death was later certified at the hospital.

“Mrs. Kopp’s husband and the water truck driver were not hurt.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist Mrs. Kopp’s loved ones at this difficult time.

“The investigation regarding this fatal collision – the sixth for 2019 – continues and any witnesses that have not already come forward are now urged to contact Constable Che Young on the main police telephone number 295-0011 or his e-mail cyoung@bps.bm.”
