Court: 42-Year-Old Admits Taking Milk Truck
[Written by Don Burgess]
A 42-year-old man pleaded guilty to taking a milk truck, and the court heard that in the process the vehicle and some of its contents were damaged.
Ernest Smith admitted to stealing a Dunkley’s truck from Reid Street on May 27, 2019, causing $3,000 in damage to the vehicle and causing $391.45 in damage to its merchandise.
Mr Smith’s lawyer Charles Richardson quipped “you can’t cry over spilled milk” when questioning whether the damage to the contents should be part of the charge.
The lawyer characterised as to what happened was “a joy ride in a milk truck” and noted it was being dealt with in Supreme Court rather than Magistrates Court.
He is scheduled to be sentenced later this week.
