Trey Mallory Begins ITF Anguilla J3 Tournament
After an intense training week in Boca Raton, Florida with Bermuda based coach James Collieson, Bermudian tennis player Trey Mallory started his end of year campaign in the ITF Anguilla J3 Tournament with a gutsy performance winning his opening match 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 over Nicholas Godsick.
His opponent is a top ranked US junior and son of former Olympic Gold medalist tennis player Mary Jo Fernandez, and Roger Federer’s agent Tony Godsick.
According to the traveling coach Carlton Bedminster from Antigua, Trey started the match of slowly, but started getting stronger in the later half of the first set. Trey broke his opponent twice in the second set and was more offensive and aggressive.
In the third set Trey continued to be aggressive and was able to break serve early on. Trey stayed ahead for the rest of the set and was able to close out the match with an impressive win under lots of pressure.
Today Trey plays #4 seed Fnu Nidunjianzan from China.
