Shooting Victim Jakai Harford: 2nd Time Shot
The victim of the shooting yesterday has been named as Jakai Tyrone Harford, making this the second time Mr. Harford has been shot.
He was also the victim of gun violence in the early hours of Christmas Day in 2007. Mr Harford was shot in the shoulder while in the Camp Hill, Southampton area.
Mr. Harford remains in King Edward Hospital and is listed in stable condition. He is being treated for gunshot wounds to the body after being shot at around 4am in the Mission Lane, 42nd area of Pembroke on March 27.
The police have confirmed that Mr. Harford’s injuries are not life threatening, although they are serious.
The Police have also stated that Mr. Harford went to a nightclub in St. George’s on Fri March 26 until the early hours of Sat March 27. At around 3am on Saturday, he took a taxi from the St. George’s nightclub to his home in Mission Lane, Pembroke. It is thought the assailant[s] hid in the area outside his home and shot him.
The 27 year old is the brother of murder victim Kumi Harford, who was fatally shot in the same area only 16 weeks prior, on December 5, 2009.
In 2007 while Jakai Harford was serving a four year prison sentence for grievous bodily harm, there were protests from his family who claimed he was near incapicatated from pain and that Westgate prison officers failed to help him.
