Antonio Pierce: New ESPN Television Analyst?
Gossip supersite TMZ, the website which broke the news of Michael Jackson’s death, is reporting that former star linebacker Antonio Pierce just wrapped up a private audition to be a studio football analyst with network sports giant ESPN.
Mr. Pierce reportedly signed a six year, $26 million dollar contract with the New York Giants in 2005, and was released by the Giants in February 2010. He is the second Bermudian to play for the Giants, after Rocky Thompson played for the same team in the 1970’s.
Born to an American mother and a Bermudian father [Cleo Burrows of Southampton], Mr Pierce was raised in the United States but always kept a strong contact with the island. His Bermudian grandmother Gwynith Burrows said he would come back to Bermuda every summer and even attended local summer camp [at what is now TN Tatem Middle School].
TMZ says of the ESPN possibility:
This is interesting considering the recently released NY Giants star claims he’s been receiving calls from several teams around the league who still want Pierce to play — including the St. Louis Rams.
But sources close to Pierce tell us dude would rather take a studio job than play for the league’s worst team.
