Donate Clothing & Household Goods to Haiti

April 24, 2010

Organized by Keith Swan and his wife with the assistance of other volunteers, Bermudians can help support our neighbours in Haiti following the devastating earthquake earlier this year by donating clothing and household goods.

The Jan 12 earthquake killed an estimated 230,000 people, and left in excess of 1 million people homeless. Haiti was already the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere prior to the quake, with the annual per capita income of Haitians being less than $400.

The organizers are requesting donations of summer clothes, household good and medical supplies. They ask that boxes be clearly labeled as either men’s, women’s, children, household or medical.

The drop off point is at St Johns Church Hall parking lot in Pembroke. In addition to today, donations will be accepted on Tues April 27 and Sat May 1 from the hours of 10am – 2pm.

The containers will be shipped down to Haiti through the co-operation of a local shipping company combined with the Bermuda Government.
