Bermuda Athletes To Support Hurricane Relief

Bermuda’s athletes are getting set to come together in the name of hurricane relief beginning on October 9 at 6.00am, with the aim of mobilizing fitness teams of ten athletes per team to raise funds to provide assistance to Salvation Army’s Hurricane Relief efforts for the Caribbean.

A spokesperson said, “This event kicks off at 6.00am on October 9 and runs until October 15. Your team can choose to start the week at the Front St flagpole or join in from any gym or fitness location anywhere globally.

“Our aim is to mobilize fitness teams of 10 athletes per team and raise funds to provide assistance to Salvation Army’s Hurricane Relief efforts for the Caribbean.”

“Teams will be active for 1000 minutes. Each athlete on a team will perform 100mins of exercise [Walking or Spinning or Running etc].

“Each athlete participating can raise $100 based on a determined pledge rate of $1 per minute. [100 minutes or for any period of exercise].

“Teams will be invited from the local sporting community [Gyms] with the goal of generating funds to support this worthy cause through fitness. Each location will designate one person to coordinate.

“Salvation Army Bermuda will be the collector of all monies raised to be distributed to the Caribbean Territory for Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts.

“After each team has completed their exercise minutes the designated team member will forward the respective funds to The Salvation Army.”
