Jenaya Wade-Fray Wins Best Defense Award

Bermudian basketball player Jenaya Wade-Fray recently received the ‘Best Defense Award’ from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga [UTC]. With the team management paying a nod to her Bermudian nationality, they stated she “played with an island attitude“.

Their women’s basketball team, the Lady Mocs, won the Southern Conference Tournament in March.

Ms Wade-Fray finished her career having played 131 games at UTC, making her the all-time leader.

In addition to being the leader in games played she:

  • Ranks 3rd all-time at UTC and in the Southern Conference for 3-pointers made with 214 over her career
  • Ranks 12th all-time in scoring with 1,351 points
  • Ranks 10th all-time in assists with 280

During her playing career, she was one of the team’s premiere players, also having been twice been awarded ‘Player of the Week’ honours the past season. Ms Wade-Fray is the daughter of Jennifer Fray and James Wade.
