Suspects in Jakai Harford Shooting Released
The two young men arrested for in connection with the shooting of Jakai Harford on March 27th are no longer in custody, having been released on bail yesterday.
The police had arrested an 18 and 23 year old shortly after the shooting. The 18 year old was arrested on Saturday Mar 27 evening at his residence, and the 23 year old was arrested on Sunday Mar 28 morning. Both men spent approximately 4 days in custody.
Their names have not been released, the only information the Police gave out was their ages, and the fact they are both Bermudians and residents of Pembroke.
27 year old Jakai Harford was shot in the early morning of Sat March 27 while sitting in a taxi outside of his home, in a case the Police believe to be gang related. Mr Harford was previously shot in the shoulder on Christmas Day in 2007.
This is the second time in a matter of days that suspects in a shooting have been quickly arrested and released on bail. A 30 year old Smiths Parish man who was arrested days after the March 19 murder of James Lawes was released on bail a few days after being initially arrested.
