Wheelchair Bound Man Appeals for Help
One of Bermuda’s own is appealing for help to fix his specialized wheelchair. Omar Hayward was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in which he was thankfully relatively unhurt, but his wheelchair has been damaged and requires immediate repair.
To repair Mr Hayward’s specialised wheelchair he has to fly to Canada. The cost of flight, hotel for him and his mother and repairs to the wheelchair will cost around $5,000 [the true cost will not be known until he is in Canada] – money he cannot afford.
Mr Hayward is flying up to Canada tomorrow [Apr 15] and needs to have the funds to repair his chair by Friday, Apr 16.
The Bank of Bermuda has generously offered that for every dollar raised they will match it up to $2,000. Butterfield Bank and Lindo’s are also assisting – but your donations are still needed.
Mr Hayward has set up an account at Butterfield Bank. His account number is # 20-006-060-704040-200. Anything you can give will be much appreciated. Monies can be directly deposited into his account at the bank or online via any local bank’s internet banking service.
Mr Hayward sits in front of Paradiso Café at the Washington Mall. He has a donation bucket, but for amounts over $50 cheques are preferable as he has been robbed twice.
