First Ever ISL Netball Draft

Last night’s [July 10] Lindo’s/ISL Netball Draft saw McKeisha Smith selected as the first ever pick. The event, held at the Grotto Bay Hotel, saw eight teams select their players in the inaugural event.

The Union got the number one draft pick and selected McKeisha Smith, then the Titans drafted Nichole Jones in the second pick of the evening. The Royal selected Kimale Evans in the third pick, with Shannon Douglas drafted by the Knights as the fourth pick. Makeda Goater was the fifth draft pick selected by the Kings, Arsenal drafted Nikita Hunt as the sixth pick, Apex drafted Tawauna Trott and Salina Bascome was drafted by the Storm as the eighth and final pick in the first round.

The league has eight teams in total; Union, Titans, Royal, Knights, Kings, Arsenal, Apex, Storm; the same as the ISL football league. Lindo’s/ISL Commissioner David Bascome said, ‘This is a special night for the sport of Netball, I just want this to be a success this League belongs to you the players and I want you all to enjoy it.” The League will be played in August.
