Four People Injured After Car Strikes Bus Stop

Around 4:45am yesterday [July 17], Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury to four people on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Fractious Street.

The Police say that it appears that a car was traveling west on North Shore Road when the driver lost control. As a result the vehicle collided with a bus shelter.

The driver, a 22 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained head injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

His three passengers, a 20 year old Hamilton parish man, a 20 year old Devonshire woman and an 18 year old Devonshire woman were also injured and taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment. They sustained head injuries, abrasions to the forehead and left hand and abrasions to the left hand respectively.

The car and bus shelter were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
